My latest series of work is called “Nostalgia”, which entails a unique combination of old Persian artifacts, such as glassware, silver vessels, ceramic objects, and ruined Persian monuments. For many years, I’ve cherished a dream that would present the artistic achievements of the Iranian cultural sphere that prevailed throughout the ages. The artistic achievements of Iranian ancient wealth seem to not have been fully recognized, its treasures preserved in international museums outside of the country’s origin, and unfortunately throughout history circulated to museums of the world.

Despite the museum’s appreciation towards Iran’s cultural heritage, I felt it necessary to compile a collection of treasures and illustrate them on canvas and oil, thus resulting in a transient museum.  Additionally, through the Nostalgia series, I give my viewers the opportunity to be exposed to and marvel Iran’s cultural wealth.

The root of the Nostalgia series was taken from childhood memories, to lifelong journeys as an immigrant, and have been stimulated by each visit to Iran.  My new project has persistently found expression in the slanted mediums of lines, flat colors delineated by sharp edges, and geometric form/color scales painted occasionally against the emptiness of white spaces.  These works show more contrast in tonal values and colors than the paintings I have previously completed.
